A Karmic Divination System by Stéphane Lacroix

Cutting The Veil is a contemplative divination system designed to reveal karmic momentum through structure, symbolism, and intuition.

Created by Stéphane Lacroix—internationally respected mentalist, designer, and creator of the Ex Tenebris cartomancy tools—this work reflects years of research into symbolic systems, psychological nuance, and meaningful, non-performative revelation.

Lacroix’s creations are used and valued worldwide for their restraint, depth, and capacity to create genuine connection.  The core work is presented in an 80-page, beautifully designed PDF, rich in atmosphere and carefully paced to guide the reader through philosophy, method, and interpretation.

Each element is intentional—inviting awareness rather than spectacle, insight rather than assertion.  Included alongside the main volume is a companion Reader’s Booklet (digital PDF), containing everything required to perform impromptu readings—whether for others or for oneself.

Designed for clarity and portability, it allows the system to be used confidently in real-world conditions, without preparation or props beyond a deck of cards.  An expansive addendum section opens a multitude of interpretive avenues.

Among them is a re-envisioned Saturn Magic Square, approached not as a sterile numerical grid, but as a living symbolic field—revealing relationships between action, reduction, and consequence that are rarely explored in traditional treatments.  The potential reveals within this system are unlike anything before.

When applied with care, they can be extraordinarily direct, emotionally resonant, and deeply confronting. For this reason, the work emphasizes restraint, ethical consideration, and responsibility. These revelations are powerful tools, intended to be used with caution, respect, and discernment.  Cutting The Veil is equally compelling for mentalists seeking authentic emotional impact, as well as beginner and experienced readers looking for a structured yet flexible framework that honors both symbolism and the individual.

More than a method, this work marks the beginning of Karmacy—a form of reading concerned not with prediction, but with awareness: the quiet forces already in motion, and the conscious choices that may yet alter their course.  Nothing is imposed. The structure simply listens.

Words from Stephane:

I created Cutting the Veil as a quiet space—one where chance is allowed to speak, and where meaning is uncovered rather than imposed.

At its heart, this ritual is simple: a mixed deck, a cut, a number. But simplicity can be deceptive. What we uncover here is not prediction, nor judgment, nor fate pronounced from above. It is a reflection—of momentum, of patterns already in motion, of the subtle consequences that gather around our choices.

When the cards are cut, something is momentarily interrupted. Habit. Flow. Autopilot. That interruption is the veil. And when it parts, even briefly, we are given a glimpse of what has been quietly accumulating beneath our awareness.  The numbers that emerge are not treated as abstractions.

They are distilled, reduced, listened to—until a single tone remains. I consider this tone a description of one’s current karmic state: not where you are destined to end, but where you are presently headed unless something changes. There is no moral weight placed upon it. Karma here is not reward or punishment—it is motion.  I approach this work with restraint and humility. The structure does not speak for you; it listens with you.

My role is not to convince, but to translate. To offer symbolic language where logic alone often falls short. To give form to intuitions many already carry but rarely articulate.  Cutting the Veil is ultimately an invitation. An invitation to pause. To observe. To take responsibility—not through guilt, but through awareness. Because awareness, once attained, quietly alters everything.  Nothing is forced. Nothing is claimed. The veil is simply lifted— and what you do with what you see remains entirely your own.

Cutting the Veil is presented as a complete and thoughtfully constructed work devoted to reflection, symbolic awareness, and the quiet examination of momentum as we move through life.  The main volume spans 80 pages, guiding the reader through the philosophy, structure, and unfolding of the ritual with clarity and restraint. It moves gradually from intention to action, from observation to distillation, allowing the system to reveal itself without haste or excess.

Complementing this is a 40-page Digital Reader’s Booklet (PDF), designed as a practical companion. It offers concise references, distilled meanings, and structural reminders—supporting live sessions while preserving presence and flow.

Great care has been taken with the visual presentation throughout both volumes. The artwork and layout are refined, atmospheric, and timeless, created to slow the reader down and invite contemplation. The imagery does not seek attention; it supports the text quietly, enhancing the ritual experience through mood, balance, and elegance.

An addendum section expands upon the core material, offering additional avenues for interpretation, symbolic exploration, and optional systems that deepen the work without complicating it. These expanded ideas are presented as invitations—paths the reader may explore or set aside according to their own practice and sensibility.  In early circulation, Cutting the Veil has already begun to resonate with readers, who speak to its calm authority, emotional clarity, and sense of intention.

The work is often described as grounding—something to return to, rather than something to move through once.  Released at the threshold of a new year, Cutting the Veil feels especially at home in this moment. It is an invitation to pause, to take stock of accumulated influence, and to begin anew with awareness rather than resolution. Not a declaration of what will happen—but a reflection on what is already in motion.

Cutting the Veil is not about starting over.  It is about starting consciously.
